Yesterday afternoon, I was out and about in Historic Downtown Fort Pierce when a brightly colored van drove slowly down Orange Ave. The colorful painted van with surf boards on top, confirmed that Drew, Maria, and Dylan Brophy had arrived in Fort Pierce, Florida. Having this family visit our area has been a coordinated effort for more than 6 months with the help of Fine Artist Susie Cassens. The family has been traveling around the USA teaching workshops and painting murals on buildings. Now it was our turn to have the renowned artist and his family teach a class for Art Mundo.
Their first stop was at Sentiment, a shop filled with local artists works, gift baskets and Homage candles. As Drew got out of his van a fan noticed him and excitedly showed off her tattoo on her side that was a duplicated art work of Drew’s. Then, the Brophy family had lunch at Rinellis Yellow Tail Restaurant which is where I (Plythe Gibbons of Treasures of Fort Pierce) caught up with them and took several pictures. Drew, Maria and Dylan were friendly and not at all upset when I wanted to get a picture of them.
After lunch, They were off to Art Mundo a block away to set up for their class. There, they met Holly Theuns the Director of Art Mundo and Susie Cassens who presented them with a basket that was filled with local art, candles and goodies and was put together by Sentiment. Thank you Susie Cassens, Dale Summerlin , Amanda Green(Sentiment) and Holly Theuns.
The workshops at Art Mundo will be held November 10th and 11th from 3:00pm- 6:00pm . Read more about Drew.
