Michael LuBecke is an American alt-country/rock/hard rock singer-songwriter born at Andrews Air Force Base, MD. A multi-instrumentalist, at 15 he was called to sit in on drums for Harry Chapin while he was writing at Classic Recording Studio in Bristol, VA. Since that time, he has been endorsed by Spector ® Bass Company, toured nationally, shared stages with and opened for international acts and has received numerous awards, as well as having his original song “Mexico” garner the Number 1 most requested song for 12 weeks in a row on Chicagoland’s WVLP 98.7FM.
The places that have influenced Michael’s music are as varied as the music he plays. From the country soul that runs down the mountains through the cool streams of the Tri-Cities of Virginia, Tennessee and Kentucky, to the march of the beat as he served in the U.S. Navy Drum and Bugle Corps, to the Southern rock and boogie that followed him to the Chicagoland area where he created modern classics, down to Florida where the “sun-drenched melody inspiring the wanderlust…” has roused him to live what he writes. He is a “musician’s musician”, and his raw talent, combined with an affable personality and creative songwriting, has audiences and critics alike coming back, asking for more.
Review of Hogtown Packing Co. – Michael LuBecke
“Hogtown Packing Co. shows a varied repertoire of upbeat, freewheelin’ rock with a healthy helping of bluesy, barroom swagger, and a dash of boogie-woogie soul on their self-titled CD. “Salvation”* smacks of ’80s metal with chunky power chords, fiery solo leads, and invigorating rhythmic punch. “Send Me Back” features acoustic guitar strumming layered with silvery licks that blossom into a cathartic climax, and the sun-drenched melody inspiring the wanderlust in “Mexico (TDS)”* is perfect for summertime escapism.”
